The design of stillness
Stillness is not only the absence of noise; it is also the presence of safety. Here is the science behind the sanctuary. I believe the nervous system begins to regulate the moment it feels truly safe. That’s why I have curated an environment that moves beyond the clinical. Every element in my studio—from the amber-spectrum lighting that mirrors the setting sun to the sound of falling water—is an intentional choice to signal to your nervous system the feeling of safety.
You won’t find anatomy charts or tie dyed tapestries here. Instead, you’ll find a sanctuary of natural textures, real art, and weighted comforts. My goal is to provide a tactile and visual experience that honors your investment in yourself, creating a space where the subconscious can finally let go so the physical body can begin its work.
The Fire Element
The first thing you will probably notice is the specific choice of lighting. I have chosen this deep, warm spectrum over standard white or blue-tinted lights. Doing so creates alignment with a few different biological responses.
Circadian Rhythm: Blue light (from screens and office bulbs) tells the brain to produce cortisol and stay alert. The amber light triggers melatonin production, and tells your brain that it is "the golden hour," the safest time of day for your body to rest.
The Womb Effect: Red and orange tones are the first colors we ever experience in utero. It is the most primal color of safety and warmth, which is why it feels grounding rather than energizing.
In addition to the lighting, I have also chosen the other design elements for their relaxing effect. By surrounding you with natural wood, hand-woven fibers, and real art, your eyes begin the relaxation process that your muscles will eventually finish.
The Element of Metal: The presence of metal wind chimes represents clarity, precision and movement, symbolically cutting through the mental fog of the day.
Water & Flow: The sound of falling water provides a natural auditory mask, cleansing the energetic space and inviting a sense of fluid movement within the body.
Thermal Envelopment: To ensure you feel completely held, I offer optional dual heating pads to 'sandwich' the body in warmth, combined with the dry heat of weighted thermal packs and moist towels for deep tissue softening.
And finally, perched in the corner, you’ll find my stuffed monkey. A gift from a dear friend, he serves as a gentle reminder of levity and childlike comfort—a signal that in this room, you are allowed to be exactly who you are, without the weight of the world on your shoulders.
